The truths about speeding are many and are not always the ones we think we know. There are several misunderstandings surrounding speeding. Exaggeration is not good in any area of our lives, let alone when we are driving and we may put ourselves and the rest of the road users at risk.
However, as always, knowledge is power!
Knowing exactly what is happening around speeding and, above all, what it means to "run" too much on a road, is also what will ultimately save us from possible dangers that exist, but we do not see them.
In today's article we will see what speeding really is, when it benefits us to "run" on a road safely and why, as well as how equally dangerous is slowing down or otherwise excessive slowing down.
Speeding and Slowness: In Which Cases Does Each One Need
Everything in life needs moderation and balance. Speeding does indeed in many cases become dangerous both for us and for others. However, there are also times when it protects us.
But let's take things from the beginning. Our goal every time we get into our car and start a journey is to get to our destination. So, the sooner we reach our destination and get out of the car, the sooner we will be safe. Because, of course, more risks, as we have already said, there are always on the streets than when we get out of the car and are at home, at work or in the supermarket.
With this logic and in this light, our aim is always, when we get in the car and start a new route, is to get out of the car as quickly as possible and complete our route, which was our original goal.
This, of course, does not mean that we will "run" at excessive speed and that we will ignore the signaling, the speed limits, and the rest of the cars in order to get us to where we want to be.
Obviously we respect every traffic rule, as well as every other car, two-wheeler or pedestrian that is on our way (See here Find out now why the pedestrian is the "easy victim" on Greek roads).
However, in addition to the speeding which in many cases actually puts us at risk, we are similarly threatened by idleness or, in other words, excessive deceleration.
If a car goes too late, especially in the left lane, then that driver also becomes dangerous for himself and for others. He, too, does not reach his destination as soon as possible, so that he is truly safe, and may potentially hinder other drivers and endanger his lives and their safety.
When a car moves too slowly, then the traffic increases, the need for overtaking by the other cars is constantly created, which is dangerous in itself, and, especially if it moves slowly and left, then it really becomes a public danger.
As we have said, exaggeration is not good in either its positive or its negative.
So the question is, what should we do to stay safe after all while driving?
When Does Speeding Benefit Us, and When It Becomes Dangerous
The truth is that no one can define speeding precisely. There is no absolute speeding, but only relative, and usually, whether someone runs too much or not, is left to everyone's discretion.
In fact, there is no law or code that defines speeding. For example, the speed limit in the city is usually set at 50 km / h, but this does not automatically mean that in every strait of the city I can comfortably move at 50 km / h.
Especially at night when the conditions faced by a driver are worse and the probability of being involved in a road accident increases by up to 30% (See here 5 Reasons that night driving is considered the weakest link in your steering wheel).
How, then, will we be able to know and recognize whether we are "running" too much or whether we are slowing down too much, and whether we are becoming dangerous for ourselves and those around us?
Initially, a big role in any situation so that we are able to evaluate whether we "run" excessively or not, are played by external conditions. The weather conditions largely determine the speed we should have in each case.
If, for example, it is raining, then we will necessarily have to be more careful and reduce speed (See here Find out what dangers driving on wet roads hides).
In addition, traffic is also one of the conditions that determines our speed. If the road has a few cars, then it makes sense, so to speak, to speed up so that we can get to our destination sooner and be safe.
Another factor that we should take into account is whether the construction of the road itself allows us to increase speed or not.
For example, on a single road with many potholes, or on a two-way road without partitions, it is more difficult and at the same time more dangerous to greatly increase the speed of our car.
Of course, in any case, we must take account of the speed ceilings and respect them. However, in many cases, the indications of these limits from the point of view of security are relative, as we will still have to use our critical faculty and experience and evaluate what we should do.
Therefore, each driver must weigh the conditions he faces and adjust his speed accordingly in order to reach his destination faster and be safe.
Finally, in any case, in order to understand whether we should accelerate our vehicle or not, we should take into account both our own experience and the capabilities of our vehicle.
Recognizing on our own the Right Speed in Every Situation
Overall, a driver has a responsibility to evaluate the data and conditions, and to take every factor into account to make sure he has the right speed in every case. Each of us has the responsibility to evaluate on our own, based on the maximum speed limit and the conditions described above, which speed is excessive – and therefore dangerous – and which is not (See here How dangerous speeding is after all ).
In any case, a small change in speed can change an entire event!
As in every area of our lives, we are responsible for our actions and their results.
Therefore, you are driven safely and in every moment we are here for you!
