Why the Right Driving Position Saves Lives

We may not realize it, but having the right driving seat when driving can literally save our lives and keep the rest of the vehicles on our way safe. Surely, the correct adjustment of the seat is the most important in order to be able to drive properly and efficiently.

CORRECT DRIVING POSITION SETTING

In some cases though, there are some things that may escape us, and others that will save us from something sudden. The riding position is something that we should take seriously, and that is what today's article was written on.

Driving Position: The Secrets You Don't Know

Let's start with the basics. Initially, the lying position of the seat is by no means safe; the position of our seat should always be in an upright position.

WRONG DRIVER POSITION

In addition, depending on the car, the seat settings may be enough and this tempts us to adjust the seat in a way that seems convenient to us but is not safe. For example, there is usually an angle adjustment of the seat and a longitudinal adjustment, i.e. an adjustment for the distance of the seat from the pedals. Our only concern here should be that our feet can take advantage of the whole pedal route.

DRIVING POSITION

The second thing to look at is the angle of the hands. When the corner of the hands is 100 to 110 degrees, then this facilitates driving and direct controls of the steering wheel, resulting in the driver reacting to anything sudden more quickly and effectively.

On the legs, the ideal and most relaxing angle is 100 to 120 degrees.
If the angle of the legs is small, then the driver's knees are very close to the dashboard, so it is easier to injure in the event of a collision.

As far as the steering wheel is concerned, in most cars we can adjust the height of the steering wheel, as well as telescopic adjustment, i.e. in terms of the depth of the steering wheel. In any case, the correct and safest adjustment and position of the steering wheel is the one in which the bezel does not hide the instruments.

Here it is very important to make sure that the steering wheel is not too low but at a suitable height, so that the movement of the hands and feet is comfortable.

DRIVING BEHIND THE STEERING WHEEL

In addition, what essentially determines whether we have adjusted the driving position correctly and whether we are ready to start driving, is the visibility provided by the position we have chosen in terms of mirrors.

It is very important to adjust both the riding position and the mirrors in such a way that we have the maximum possible field of view. This, of course, applies to both internal and external mirrors.

If from your side mirrors you see part of your vehicle then they are regulated incorrectly and you have to reset them because there is a risk of a road accident!

MIRROR ERROR

Finally, something very important that under no circumstances should we ever omit is the seat belt.

It is now necessary and understandable to always wear a seat belt, whether we are sitting in the front or rear seats. Even for short distances, the seat belt literally saves lives, and it is something we should not omit.

If the seat belt is not adjusted properly, it is likely to cause injury in an abrupt braking or accident.

CORRECT ZONE POSITION

The belt should not come into contact with the neck, nor should it be at the edge of the shoulder. Many drivers, unfortunately, still neglect seat belts today, especially when it comes to traveling short distances, but it is the most necessary measure in order to stay safe while driving.
